Assembly

This Morning, we went to the hall to congratulate our lovely principal Mr Burt, he got an Order of Merit award for Education by the queen, when we got there he had no idea what we were going to do for him. So when we walked in assembly we took our seats acting like it was going to be a normal assembly, in the middle of assembly, Mrs Noah handed the mic to Pisirina, one of the prefects for our school* to say a speech for Mr Burt and Mrs Burt cause they looked after our school for a very long time, and we are very grateful.

After Pisirina said her speech it was AJ’s turn, and he said a prayer for them, after that Freedom said another Prayer, when he finished we all stood up to sing a song, our guitarists were John, Sione, and Mr Right. When we stood up we sang, “Ufiufi lo’u agaga”  for Mr Burt, we/Mrs Tele’a chose that song, because he can speak and understand samoan, and we knew that he would sing along, cause he knows the song.

After we sang that Whaea Kiri, told everyone to stand up to sing another song, and it was “Ka Waiata” that song is a lovely and peaceful song in maori, after that, half of the Year 8 and 7 boys stood up to do a haka for Mr Burt, then Mr Burt said a speech of how grateful he was when we sang and gave him all the stuff we provided for him. Everyone knew that him getting the award was such a blessing for him. After all that happened, assembly was finished, so we all went back to class, year by year. And that was the end of assembly, Congratulations Mr Burt and Mrs Burt!!
