Report: The zones in the Rocky Shore

The Rocky Shore is a habitat in the intertidal area along the New Zealand coast. The Rocky Shore has many different zones the splash zone, intertidal zone and subtidal zone. It contains with many different creatures, plants and organisms.

The Supratidal/Splash zone is right above the high tide mark. It can be wet during storms, rainy days but mostly king tides. Sometimes it can be soft and wet by the splash of the breaking waves coming in. That’s why it’s called the Splash zone or the Supratidal zone.

There are 3 important zones in the Rocky Shore which are named as the High tide zone, Middle tide zone and off course the Low tide zone. The High tide zone is the zone above the intertidal zone so it’s the Highest zone. The Middle tide zone is in between the Low tide zone and the High tide zone. Last but not least the Low tide zone, the Low tide zone is right beneath the Middle tide mark.

The Subtidal zone is below the Intertidal zone right underneath the Low tide mark. The Subtidal zone is absolutely covered with water and also can’t be seen at any time. Every organism cannot dry out or grow because of the amount of water that is covering it.

The Rocky shore is a habitat in the Intertidal areas along the New Zealand coast. The Rocky shore has many different zones such as the Intertidal zone, subtidal zone and the Supratidal zone. The Rocky shore is a beautiful place to visit, with many different sea creatures and plants.
